MAJOR PRICE REDUCTION APRIL 2012 - $119,000

The Ted Brewer designed custom bluewater sailboat "Steel Magic" is a cutter rigged modified full keel cruiser and truely cruise ready from watermaker to Monitor Wind Vane Steering, Inverter and Glacier Bay refrigeration to name a few. From design to execution this cruising yacht exemplifies its owner's passion for sailing and the craft of fine boat building. With 30+ years of boating and construction experience, this owner-builder began the search for the "right" cruising yacht.

After painstaking research, Ted Brewer's Kaiulani design was selected for its beauty and methods in steel construction. Drawing on the owner's construction and engineering industry experience, materials and subcontractors were thoroughly researched and selected for proven quality. The hull, tanks and primary metal components were fabricated by certified welders. Electrical systems, specifications and power panels were designed and manufactured by Paneltronics.

Many of the interior features and designs were adapted from Ferenc Mate's boat building books, with his philosophy to combine style, safety and practicality for cruising comfort. Following A.B.Y.C. standards, the attention to detail and quality of workmanship and materials is evident throughout.

The builder has 12+ years of boat-building experience and 50 years of boating experience. The owners worked with Lakewood Yacht Service to select the make/model for the diesel engine and consulted with them for design/selection of the fuel pumps, filters and recirculation systems, alternator and regulators. Lakewood performed the post-launch inspection, has done periodic maintenance and recently installed 3 new 8D batteries (summer 2010).

Paint Systems: They consulted with South Texas Yacht Service and met with the Interlux rep before selecting the paint and method used. All steel was sand-blasted to "white" steel and painted with primer within 30-45 minutes. Interlux 3000/3001 epoxy primer. Exterior: 3 coats primer, then fairing compound, 2 more coats of primer, then Interlux 2-part poly (2-3 coats). Interior 2 coats primer, 2 coats paing.

West Systems epoxy + micro balloons as fairing compound. New bottom paint by South Texas November 2010.
